The Founder of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has said its standard bearer in the 2023 presidential election, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was expelled due to anti-party activities.

He said Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor, tried to usurp the party’s machinery, claiming that NNPP was handed over to him by its founder.

Aniebonam spoke at the weekend at the inauguration of newly elected executive members of the Lagos State chapter of the NNPP.

The NNPP stalwart insisted that Kwankwaso and a former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Buba Galadima, were no longer members of the party.

The inauguration in Lagos was held at the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NGAGAFF) following the recent conclusion of the party’s ward, local government, state and national conventions in line with the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.

The new executives in Lagos are led by its former Southwest Woman Leader, Princess Olabisi Adebowale, among others.

Aniebonam highlighted some key issues facing the party, including a plethora of pending court cases instituted by some NNPP’s chieftains who tried to hijack the party’s machinery but were prevented by court judgment. He said: “The NNPP graciously anointed Kwankwaso to contest for president in the last general election and gave him the necessary support.”

Princess Adebowale pledged to use her wealth of experience to serve the party well. She urged her executive members to work hard towards clinching victories in various elective positions in the 2027 general election.
