Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele yesterday said he was focused on building a strong financial system and helping President Muhammadu Buhari to finish strongly.
He warned those urging him to run for president against distractions.
There have been rumours that Emefiele nurses a presidential ambition, but he has not declared an intention to run.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked Emefiele to resign following his appearance on campaign posters.

The party said posters “confirm his partisan affiliation and entanglement with the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
But, Emefiele, in tweets via his Twitter handle @Godwiniemefiele, dismissed the speculations.
He tweeted: “My focus at this time is a robust monetary policy and fighting inflation which is now a global problem; building a strong financial system in an increasingly uncertain global economy; development finance and supporting farmers and manufacturers in our self-sufficiency and import substitution drive; raising N15 trillion for InfraCo infrastructure financing; building a world-class International Financial Center in Lagos; as we support the @MBuhari Administration to finish strong. #NoDistractionsPlease.”
