Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa yesterday denied that 10 All Progressives Congress (APC) senators were planning to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bulkachuwa, who represents Bauchi North, was featured on Channels’ Politics Today.
He said the rumour was conjectured in the minds of the opposition.
PDP senators last week threatened President Muhammadu Buhari with impeachment if the security situation does not improve in six weeks.
Bulkachuwa, who affirmed that the majority of the senators agreed to take the decision, however, said there was no truth in the rumour of defection plan.
He said: “If it is what you have either heard or read, I was also included. But I am in APC.
“We considered these things among the Senators. And please, we are looking for solutions to Nigeria’s problems and not our personal problems.”
He blamed a section of the media for choosing to amplify what it should not.
He added that Nigeria comes first before party affiliation.
