Chairman of House Committee on Ports, Harbours and Waterways Transport Pat Asadu yesterday said the House of Representatives has no plan to raise a medical team to probe President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
Asadu attributed the malicious intent behind the publication to mischief-makers, who are hell bent of dividing the lower chamber along regional lines.
He said: “I read with utmost dismay the report, where it was alleged that some members of the House of Representatives tried to bring a motion to the floor, seeking an investigation into the health of the President.
“To state categorically, the intent of the report was conceived in bad taste, and is an attempt by desperate power mongers to infiltrate the ranks of the House by dividing members along party, regional and religious lines.
“It is disgusting that anyone would conceive such wicked narrative, particularly at a time when the unity of the country is threatened by continuous agitations and calls for succession.
The lawmaker, however, urged Nigerians not to relent in striving for a united Nigeria.
Asadu, who is representing Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency in Enugu State, said “all regions would fare better together than separately apart.”
