The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to take a final decision on the venue for this year’s Federation Cup final between Lobi Stars of Makurdi and Akwa United FC.
The Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos was initially billed to host the final of the oldest football competition in the country but words are rife that the game may be moved to another venue.
Demola Olajire, the NFF’s assistant director of media told SportingLife in a telephone interview from Abuja that officials of the Federation were yet to meet with governor Akinwunmi Ambode to ascertain whether the state was still ready to host the final.
“You aware that there is a new government in Lagos State and this means that we have to meeet with the governor to know whether the State will continue to host the final as it has been the case in the past three years.
“After meeting with the Lagos State government, members of the organising committee of the Federation Cup will then meet to decide which State will eventually host the final of the competition,” Olajire stated.
Speaking in the same vein, Secretary General of NFF, Dr Mohammed revealed to www.footballlive.ng that the venue for the final has not been decided.
