Nottingham to unleash Awoniyi against Aston Villa

 Taiwo Awoniyi

After escaping being axed by the owner of Nottingham Forest, Coach Steve Cooper is ready to bolster his attacking line-up with the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi when Aston Villa visit sold out City Ground today.

Rooted at the bottom of the Premiership table, Nottingham is hoping to turn the tide against Steven Gerrard-tutored side and Cooper admitted that he is expecting a tough test but insisted that all of his focus is on getting his side back on track.

The Reds fell to defeat last time out against Leicester City, however after penning a new contract to commit his future to the club this week, Cooper is determined to bounce back after a poor run of results.

“We’ve looked at ourselves and realised the performance at Leicester was nowhere near good enough,” said Cooper.”The key now is attempting to put that right in the next game and although there’s no guarantees we need to make sure we do everything we can to give ourselves a chance to improve.

“Villa are a team full of good players, I’ve got a lot of respect for Steven [Gerrard] and the job he’s done since he started his coaching career.

“We have to be ready for the challenges that his team will pose but at this moment in time it’s about us and about how we can get better and do everything we can to win a match at this level.

“It’s a tough game but it’s a Monday night game at The City Ground and we can’t wait to play in front of our supporters again because they’ve been fantastic for us despite the results,” Cooper added.
