With four matches left to end the 2022-23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, the battle for slots in the playoffs continue in Group A and B as no team is certain of a spot but things would get clearer at the end of this weekend’s Matchday 15.
In Group A, the epic match is between Enyimba and Remo Stars in Aba while the tussles involving Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars in Akure is the game to watch out for in Group B.
This weekend’s star match is indeed the fixture between Enyimba and Remo Stars taking place at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba as the home team is gunning for second home win from the four games played in Aba in the second stanza of the season.
The victory over Plateau United fortnight ago gave the record league champions the confidence for the away win over Kwara United last weekend. They had played two consecutive home draws against Bendel Insurance and Nasarawa United prior to the two important wins.
Enyimba increased their chance of a playoff spot with an away win over Kwara United in Akure, while the win took them to second spot in Group A with 24 points. Bendel Insurance maintain their top spot with 28 points.
However, a win against Remo Stars will brighten the chance of the People’s Elephant but the visiting Sky Blue Stars cannot afford a slip as they are at present in the fifth spot with 20 points. They are three points adrift of third placed Akwa United (23 points) that will welcome Kwara United in Uyo.
Enyimba will rely on the scoring prowess of Obioma Chukwuemeka to continue his quest to top the goal chart against the visiting Remo Stars. On their part, Remo will be hoping that their mixture of youthfulness and experience will be helpful in the encounter.
