NSC: Ogun ex- sports commissioner  Olopade named   DG

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bukola Olawale Olopade, the former Ogun State’s Commissioner of Youth and Sports, as the new Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC).

The appointment was announced yesterday in a press release issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Olopade, a seasoned sports administrator, brings a wealth of experience to the role.

 Until his appointment, Olopade  is  the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival to be hosted  next  year by Ogun State.

He is also the brain behind the annual  Access Bank-sponsored Lagos City Marathon, Abeokuta Marathon 10km race among other  sporting portfolios.

 Olopade is expected  to collaborate with another experienced sports administrator, Shehu Dikko, who was appointed as the Chairman of the NSC last month  following the scrapping of the Ministry of Sports Development.
