NSE President urges concerted efforts towards stopping buildings’ collapse

President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Tasiu Gidari-Wuldi, has expressed concern over the level of building collapse witnessed in recent times.

Gidari-Wuldi spoke while addressing journalists ahead of the forthcoming world construction expo in Abuja on Tuesday.

He stated that the building collapse can be caused by different factors which include environment, weather conditions, designs, materials among others.

Gidari-Wuldi  called on all professionals and construction companies to come together so as to share knowledge and experience on how to put a stop to building collapse incident in Nigeria.

Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of Elan Expo Exhibition, West Africa, Jude Chime, stressed on the need of promoting engineering through Africa Free Trade Area, AFCFTA.

He noted that sharing knowledge and experience with other international professionals will also provides hints as to how engineers can leverage on the platform arrived on the path of commerce to expand its services beyond the shores of Nigeria.

According to a release made available by the organizers, the Biggest Construction and Engineering show in West Africa will open its doors to over 5000 Engineers, architects, builders, manufacturers, and importers on July 5, 2022.

Over 150 brands will be expected to showcase their products in sectors such as The HVAC&R, WasteWater, and Water Treatment, Ceramics and Sanitary wares, and Building construction materials and Machinery.

The event which would hold at the Landmark Centre, Oniru Victoria Island Lagos would feature Award Presentation to acknowledge great Engineers for their amazing contributions to the growth of Engineering in Nigeria.

Highlights of the event would include focus on the latest industry trends, knowledge sharing workshop section from Industry professionals, display of world-class equipment and new innovation, presence of top government delegates for partnership, presentation of awards to top performing engineers, and Happy Hour Corner for relaxation and networking.

It reads, “The 6th annual Construction and Engineering Show will also feature the 1st Edition of the Women in Construction, Engineering, And Commerce (WCECE) conference, the first of its kind in Nigeria.WCEC 2022 is to create an avenue to expand the frontiers of women in Construction, Engineering, and Commerce with an enlightening panelist session and also has the strong supporting presence of various Construction, Engineering, and Trade bodies such as; The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, (APWEN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the NIOB Women Wing, and NAWORG to mention but a few.
