The president of the Nigerian Squash Federation, Adamu Erena has been elected as the Vice Presdent of the Africa Squash Federation at the concluded congress of the African Squash Federation held in Johannesburg on September 27.
The election was held with the world masters Squash tournament.
Adamu was elected unopposed following the decision of the former Nigerian Vice President, Femi Ajagbe to contest the presidency. He, however, decided to step down, a decision that paved way for the emergence of Hanny Hamuda of Egypt who was returned unopposed for another four years.
Speaking after being elected, Erena said it was a big boost for Nigerian squash as well as Africa pointing out that: I’m excited by my election as it would encourage me to contribute my quota to the development of squash in not only Nigeria, but Africa.
“I would also use my appointment to draw global attention to Nigerian squash through the provision of infrastructure, training and regular competitions. I will also use my good office to ensure that Nigeria plays her role in the comity of squash family.”
