President of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Lagos State,  Sewanu Ogunfowora, has appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu to employ junior staff into the local government system.

He spoke during the first quarter of the union’s forum at Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government secretariat.

Ogunfowora said their employment would redress the shortage of this category in the local government service delivery.

He noted that the last batch of junior workers in the state were employed in 2012.

“As at today, in all local government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) , it is glaring 95 percent falls within middle and managerial levels…’’

He decried  workers inaccessibility to the Staff Housing Scheme Fund, saying the  scheme was only felt on paper and not in reality.

“Deductions are made from salaries without accessibility to the funds. Workers are kept in the dark concerning what happens to their funds.’’

Earlier, chairman of the forum, Sakirudeen Idowu-Lawal, urged members to be proactive and punctual to work.
