Several groups in Adamawa State have teamed up to obtain Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to contest for second term.
The groups include PDP members in the state House of Assembly who had much earlier contributed money to get the form for Fintiri.
The groups, who presented the form to Governor Ahmadu Fntiri on Friday, included Gamzaki Traders Association, Gaskiya Youth Forum, PDP Coalition Support Group, ATM Adamawa Agenda, Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Fintiri Continuity, and Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Speaking after receiving the form in the Banquet Hall of Government House Yola, Governor Fintiri appreciated the groups.
He said, “You have made my consultations easier and I will continue to show appreciation. This special gesture will no doubt spur me to put more efforts to bettering the lives of the people.”
Fintiri disclosed that he will continue to carry out his consultations to the traditional rulers and people across the state, towards making his declaration to run for second term in office in 2023.
The Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aminu Iya Abbas, reminded the gathering that the 14 PDP members of the state Assembly had earlier wanted to buy the nomination form for the governor and they had contributed money in that regard.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Abdurrahman Bobboi, said the people of Adamawa had accepted Governor Fintiri to run again, as his administration has touched their lives.
Speaking on behalf of the organised labour, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Rodney Nathan, said Fintiri has done well in keeping the promise he made to them.
