Obi’s administration constructed Nkpor-Amawbia road –Aide

The Media aide to Mr. Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, Valentine Obienyem, has stated that the former governor started and completed the Nkpor-Amawbia old road during his tenure as governor.

Obienyem, who made the claim in a press statement, said, “There is no controversy as to the person that started and completed the Nkpor-Amawbia old road.”

According to Obienyem, the clarification became necessary because of avalanche of calls and text messages he was inundated with in the last two days, following the claim by incumbent governor Willie Obiano that he completed nearly 70% of the road.

Obienyem disclosed that the road was awarded to CCC construction company in 2008 by Mr. Peter Obi and was completed  long before Obiano became governor.

Obienyem, who described Gov. Willie Obiano as a gentleman, said the governor may have been misinformed, as he was in the USA and did not know what was going on in the state before he came to contest the governorship.

“I mean some of the Commissioners were part of the former government. It is really confounding that they allowed or misled Obiano to claim to have done part of the road that was already completed before he became the governor. ”

Obienyem said that Governor Obiano can face the section of the road with flooding problem at Ogidi. “If Obiano is desirous of contributing anything to the road, he should tackle the Ogidi flood,” Obienyem said.
