TOP journalists, who pioneered the defunct Concord newspapers, will be honoured today in Lagos at the second edition of the Concord Press family reunion.
In the maiden edition last year, some of the ex-Concord journalists who got government appointments were on the honours’ roll.
The newspaper was founded by business mogul, the late Bashorun Moshood Abiola, in 1980. Concord published until it was rested in 2001.
Coordinator of the event Ogbeni Goke Odeyinka, in a statement, said those to be honoured this year are the pioneer Managing Director and Editor-in-chief Prince Henry Odukomaya and pioneer editors Dr. Doyin Abiola (Daily), the late Dele Giwa (Sunday), Lewis Obi (African Concord), Mike Awoyinfa (Weekend Concord) and Stanley Egbochukwu (Business Concord)
Also listed to be appreciated for their giant strides in the media industry since leaving Concord are: Managing Director/Editor in chief of The Nation, Mr. Victor Ifijeh, Chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation Mr. Sam Omatseye, Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria Mr. Bayo Onanuga, among others
Odeyinka said the event to be chaired by Mr. Kola Abiola, son of the late publisher, will feature a photo exhibition by former Concord Press photographers.
