- PDP wins all seats in Zamfara council polls
Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has declared the results of the 2024 local government chairmanship and councillorship elections, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerging victorious across the 20 local governments and 236 wards.
OGSIEC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, made the announcement yesterday at the commission’s headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, while presenting the official results of the election in a live broadcast.
He said 613,156 votes were cast in the chairmanship elections across the 20 councils.
The following parties participated in the poll- Accord Party (AP), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied People’s Movement (APM), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action People’s Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Boot Party (BP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all the 14 chairmanship and 147 councilor seats in the November 16 local government elections in Zamfara State.
Chairman of the Zamfara Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) Alhaji Bala Aliyu said this while announcing winners of the election in Gusau yesterday.

Eighteen political parties participated in the election.
Aliyu said: “Based on the results announced by the Electoral and Returning Officers at different collation centres, at the end of the exercise, 14 candidates of the PDP won the chairmanship positions. The 147 candidates of the same party won all the councillorship positions in the state.
“We appreciate stakeholders, especially security agencies, media organisations, CSOs, NGOs as well as political parties.”
The commission’s chairman also lauded the electorate for orderliness and peaceful conduct during the exercise.
