Beneficiaries of Farmers of Value-Chain Development Programme Additional Funding (VCDP-AF) in Ogun State have lauded the Federal Government for its continuous support to agricultural development.
The beneficiaries who are farmers hailed the federal government’s efforts at boosting agriculture to achieve food production, food security, employment and earnings through doling out agricultural inputs and capacity building.
The farmers have the commendation when the federal government and the International Fund for agricultural development(IFAD) representatives visited the farmers in Eredo and Ajura Ikono in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun State on a supervision mission.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Johnson Ajibola, said that VCDP had supported them a lot through capacity building.

“The VCDP was the one that gave us the training. With the capacity building that is being given to us , we now know good agricultural practices that we supposed to put in place when doing a production, that’s the reason we are getting good results on our farms.
“I am satisfied with what they have done for us and I want them to continue, at least for the sake of those that have never benefited from it. We still have many youths that have never benefited from this kind of programme. If they can continue the programme, it will reach those local government and also if they can still expand it to the rest of the state it will be good because when they came we are farming individually, we don’t have cluster farm, presently one of our cluster farm is 72 hectres, we have another one of 335 hectres. With what we are doing, if other groups are doing that, we are going to have food security in Nigeria.
“I really appreciate the federal government, IFAD, VCDP, Ogun State and Obafemi owode local government they have really tried,” Ajibola said.
Also, Mrs Famuyiwa Oluwatoyin, another beneficiary who spoke on behalf of all the rice farmers hailed the federal government for supporting them a lot with inputs and during production.
She appealed the government to sustain the support them to continually enhance their productivity and profitability.
