Ondo renown philantrophist, Tola Awosika and a grandson of Nigeria First Finance Minister, Festus Okotie-Eboh, has declared his intention to run for the Senate to represent Ondo Central Senatorial district.
Awosika who hails from Ondo kingdom said he joined politics to make a difference and focused on reorientation of youths.
Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Awosika challenged the electorate and members of the All Progressives Congress to research about him and other aspirants for them to have an insight into the candidate they are electing to fly the party’s ticket.
Awosika stated that his 15 experience as a private investor with interest in pharmaceuticals, security, manufacturing and hospitality set him ahead of other aspirants.
According to him, “I believe in the unity of the APC and very optimistic that I will win the party’s ticket and the general election.
“I want to use my energy, creativity and wide connection to redirect the energy of young people from distractive and destructive social vices like fraud (Yahoo Yahoo stuff) that is dominant in our society today.”
A chieftain of the APC, Adesanmi Oluwadare, described Awosika as a young entrepreneur who is an Economist, a Political Scientist by training and a doctorate degree holder in Hospitality.
Oluwadare said Awosika was mentored by elders who fought for democracy in the country.He stated that Awosika philanthropic activities through the Tola Awosika Foundation has done empowerment for young people, traders and artisans.
“To his credit, he has donated transformers, boreholes, awarded scholarship, sponsored football competitions and music concert in Ondo and Akure.
According to him, “He believes in mentorship, and modelling of young Nigerians. He grew his business by watching and studying his business mentors.
