Okotie is Fresh presidential candidate

Founder of Household of God Church Rev Chris Okotie has emerged the presidential flag bearer of the Fresh Democratic Party (FRESH) in 2019 elections.

He emerged unopposed after the only contestant James Pam from Plateau State stepped down at the party’s primaries at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos last week.

Hundreds of party delegates, including seven governorship candidates from Jigawa, Ogun, Kano, Plateau, Katsina, Imo and Akwa-Ibom, participated in the direct primaries that produced Okotie.

They all formally received their flags from Okotie, who is also the party chairman.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by its resident electoral commissioner in charge of Ogun, Lagos and Ondo, Adekunle Ogunmola, witnessed the exercise alongside Mrs. Nkechi Abu.

Okotie, in his acceptance speech, recalled his initial campaign for a generational power shift and the need for the political class to put the people first.

He said he was not out to condemn other political actors but expressed the needs for paradigm shift in the governing process for Nigeria to make a head way.

The preacher-politician proposed what he called Aboriginal democracy, a home – grown initiative he said could bring permanent peace to Nigeria.

He reiterated the calls on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to adopt him as head of interim government that will fix Nigeria.

According to Okotie, only a properly restructured Nigeria under a focused, god-fearing leader can take the nation to the Promised Land.
