The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has got a new general manager. He is Mr Maroof Olawale Musa, who succeeds Mr Bashir Braimah.
Before his appointment, he was the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
He resumed yesterday at the Oshodi headquarters of the agency.
Addressing LASTMA officers, Musa pledged his commitment to staff discipline.
This, he said, is the bedrock of ensuring free flow of traffic on Lagos roads.
He said he would ensure a mobile, efficient and effective traffic management system in the state.
The General Manager said the agency work in line with the best global practices.
Every LASTMA official, he said, must demonstrate discipline on duty, shun corruption, dedication to duty and respect road users.
Musa called for the cooperation of motorists in the new effort to reposition the agency for better service delivery.
He urged members of the public to take advantage of his open door policy to report any erring staff for proper discipline in accordance with the extant rules.
Welcoming the new GM, the agency’s Chief Executive Officer Chris Olakpe, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), assured him of the support and cooperation of the officers and their readiness to deliver on their mandate of moving Lagos traffic forward.
The outgoing General Manager, Braimah said he was sure that the new helmsman will take the agency to a new enviable height.
