Old boys donate N7m tools to alma mater

Makurdi Special Science Senior Secondly School Alumni (MS5 – AA,) has donated science laboratory equipment worth N7million to their alma mater.

President of the alumni Jerry Aende, who led the old students to donate the equipment, said it was their own way of giving back to the all science school which moulded their character for a better future.

Aende, an engineer, said science is based on practical works, without which making headway would prove difficult.

He said graduates of the Makurdi Science School were making giant strides in diverse disciplines.

“The donation is a way of giving back to the school that moulded our character and also as a pathway to creating an opportunity and motivation for our teachers and students to effectively improve in the learning and teaching of practical science” said Aende. He admonished both students and teachers to put the equipment into good use.

Principal of the school Simon Iortyer, described the gesture as ‘first of its kind and unprecedented.’

Iortyer expressed gratitude to the old boys and pray God to reward them abundantly.

Commissioner for Education Prof Dennis Ityavyar, represented by Director of Secondly Education Pastor Sam Ekirigwe, said more science schools will be established in parts of the state to encourage science education.

Ekirigwe commended the old boys for remembering their alma mater.
