Estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Wuraola, has confirmed that her marriage to the monarch, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwunsi II, has crashed.
The Olori has also reverted to her maiden name: Zaynab Otiti Obanor.
She announced the marriage crash yesterday via an official statement on her official Instagram page @hhzynab.
Her post reads: “What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love and exhale gratitude.
“No matter how much time you’ve invested, no matter the use of media to silence and manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help!
“My journey continues as a humanitarian, aiding women and victims of domestic violence and abuse with the United Nations (UN).”
The post confirmed recent reports that the Oni marriage’s to the Benin-born queen was having a crisis.
NAN recalls that the Ooni got married to gthe former Edo State bride at an elaborate traditional wedding in Benin, the state capital, on March 16, last year.
Although the monarch was not present, he was represented by his father, Oluropo Ogunwusi.
Also, the Ooni’s palace yesterday said it was not yet time to speak on the matter.
According to the palace, the issue will be addressed at the appropriate time.
The Ooni’s Director of Media, Mr. Moses Olafare, said the palace was aware of many things – right or wrong – being said about the matter.
It assured all that “when it is time to speak, the truth would be told”.
Speaking with our correspondent at Ife, Olafare said: “This era of social media, where people have free access to internet, as constitutionally permitted by laws of the land, people can say anything.
“Decorum still requires that we in the House of Oduduwa should maintain our silence, at least for now. This is because marriage is strictly a private matter that should not be subjected to undue public uproar. When it is necessary for us to talk, we will surely talk on the issue.”
