The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has reiterated its determination to ensure a credible and transparent primary election.
It debunked a rumour that its leadership has a favourite candidate.
Three thousand delegates are to elect the party’s governorship candidate among the over 50 aspirants.
APC Chairman Isaac Kekemeke, who spoke in Akure while receiving a N2 million development fund from the lawmaker representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, who is also a governorship aspirant, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, said contestants should mobilise the delegates who would decide their fate in the primary.
He assured members that there would be a level-playing field for aspirants, stressing that the election would be acceptable to all.
The chairman received Ayorinde’s cheque through the party’s Administrative Secretary, Smart Omodunbi.
He thanked the legislator, who is also the founder of Achievers University, Owo for his support to the growth of the party.
The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party had mandated aspirants to pay N2 million each as development levy to uplift the party.
Ayorinde, represented by the leader of the ‘Achievers Project’, Chief Akin Ojo, said he would remain in the forefront for the development of his community, the APC and Ondo State.
The aspirant urged his opponents to contribute to the development of the party to facilitate its success after the election.
He said APC in the state has a formidable executive committee, ranking among the best.
According to him, “the development levy for governorship aspirants is germane to assist in the running of the party, especially towards the approaching primaries and election proper.”
Ayorinde enjoined his opponents to play the game according to the rules, saying “peace and brotherliness are paramount to this project.” “We don’t believe in noise-making; we know the people are our target.”
The legislator said his campaign team was intensifying efforts to reach out to the electorate through the executives at the ward, local and state levels.
He added that the group has devised a strategy to reach out to the electorate and preach the gospel of peace and what they have in stock for the citizenry if they get the mandate to govern the state.
