Two sisters aged 13 and 15 have been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps for kidnapping themselves and demanding the sum of N100,000.

The teenagers, said to be in JSS3 and SSS1 respectively, reportedly stayed in a hotel from where they called their mother that they had been kidnapped and that the abductors were demanding N100,000 for their release.

They were among 28 suspects paraded by the Ondo Amotekun Corps for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, burglary, among others.

One of them told journalists they carried out the act because their mother used to maltreatment her.

“I did it because my mother maltreats me as if she was not the one that gave birth to me. I wanted to punish my mother,” she said.

Also, a woman, Salamatu Hajara, and her 20-year-old son, Mohammend Sanni, were paraded for conspiracy and kidnapping.

The woman had earlier told security operatives that she had no male child when a phone number used for ransom negotiation was traced to her son.

It was when her son was arrested that he confessed that his mother brought supplies to where they kept their victims in the forest of Ifon and Owo.

A Director of a hotel, Bayo Emure was among three suspects paraded for taking two ladies as hostages, getting other men to torture and rape them until they were rescued.

Emure was also alleged to have forcefully collected the ATMs of his victims and withdrew money from their bank accounts.

But Emure said one of the girls owed him money. He said he paid the girl N350,0000 to supply him girls from Calabar that would work in the hotel.

Ondo Amotekun boss, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, raised the alarm over the use of poisonous substance in a balloon to kidnap persons in the state.

Akogun Adeleye urged residents to alight from any vehicle when other passengers start busting balloons.

Adeleye said many of the suspected kidnappers were arrested during patrol of forest reserves in Owo and Ose local government areas. He said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations had been concluded.
