One year after Femi Osibona’s demise

On November 1, 2021, at exactly 2:44 pm, Lagos was shaken to its foundation as the news of an ill-fated 15-storey building under construction in Gerald road Ikoyi Lagos collapsed and killed over 40 people inside it while some survived.  It took days before some bodies were recovered due to the proactive nature of Lagos state and some private firms that donated bulldozers and life detectors. The construction firm carrying out the construction was owned by Femi Osibona, a British-born businessman, who was also in the building with his bosom friend Wale Bob Oseni. It was a tragic ending for Femi.

The whole of Nigeria was thrown into a frenzy mood as friends, family, and associates, and business partners cried over his untimely demise. After the collapse and demise of the deceased head Honcho of Fourscore Heights Limited, Lagos State had disclosed that the other building beside the collapsed one failed the integrity test and will be demolished and the land would be forfeited to the State Government but Justice Adewunmi Oshin of the Lagos High Court had stopped the Lagos State Government from taking over and demolishing the two remaining high-rise buildings constructed by Fourscore Heights Limited in Ikoyi. The judge also ordered all parties in the suit to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed by 15 subscribers in the high-rise buildings. On Tuesday, November 1, in commemoration of the one-year remembrance of Femi’s demise, friends, family, and associates took to their social media platform to remember and celebrate the deceased as they also pray for him to find eternal rest in the bosom of his creator.
