‘Only Al-Makura can unify all APC members beyond 2023’

Senator Tanko Al-Makura

The National Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups for Al-Makura (NA-CASA) has said the emergence of former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, as the National Chairman of the APC would guarantee the future and survival of the party beyond 2023. The group said Al-Makura who is one of the founding fathers of APC, understands the principles upon which the party is founded and has the capacity to effectively manage its affairs and retain the Presidency in 2023.

National Chairman of the group, Chief Chukwunonso Ezedinma, who stated this on Friday in Abuja at a press briefing said, Al-Makura towers above every other contender for the office of the National Chairman because only him can unify all the interest groups in the party and galvanize it towards success in the 2023 general elections. While explaining that the former governor is the best thing that could happen to the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, he said the party needs a man with experience, networks and brinkmanship to navigate the very delicate political climate that currently envelops the party.

“The merger arrangements that produced the APC was mid-wifed by Al-Makura, then, the only governor of the CPC, alongside other parties like the ACN, ANPP, and APGA, gave birth to the party. As a governor, he ran an inclusive administration and unified the states across political, religious and ethnic divides, living behind an enviable record, making Nasarawa one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria”. Speaking further, he noted that the former governor has demonstrated an uncommon loyalty to his party and ideals of progressivism all through his political career.

He expressed optimism that Al-Makura is well endowed and prepared for the job of leading the party to greater heights. This is the time for our party to exercise great discretion in the choice of its next leaders, especially the chairman. APC needs to guarantee its future and survival as a strong political party after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office in 2023″, he added.
