The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency of Osun State, in a unanimous decision, has adopted Dr. Ayoade Adewopo as the constituency’s consensus candidate for the Federal House of Representatives in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
“The adoption was the outcome of the leaders’ decision to favour those who have been loyal to the party in the struggle to ensure the upholding of democratic tenets and the principles of equity, justice and fairness. Dr. Adewopo was one of the party’s governorship aspirants in 2018 but was asked by the leadership of the party to step down at the peak of politicking when the deputy Governorship slot was zoned to Ife federal constituency where he hails from.
According to the resolution of the whole house which was read by Barrister Wale Ojo, the party recognised the commitment of Adewopo to the party and the constituency, as well as his unalloyed loyalty and support for the party at all times. It was suggested that the entire house should give their maximum support and cooperation to Dr. Ayoade Adewopo as the flag bearer of the party in the 2023 general elections.
The house therefore moved a motion for the adoption of Dr. Adewopo as the sole candidate of the PDP for the 2023 House of Representatives general election which was supported and approved by all members of the house in a unanimous voice vote. Leaders at the meeting included Hon. Wale Ojo, Major Towobola, Hon. Funso Babarinde, Ayo Awodirepo and numerous others.
