An Osun State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has kick-started his campaign with a promise to continue the Six-Point integral action plan of the Rauf Aregbesola administration.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) officially announced his ambition to contest the September 22 governorship election in a colourful and carnival-like atmosphere amid cheers from his admirers at the party’s secretariat on Gbongan Road in Osogbo, the state capital.
Addressing his supporters, the aspirant pledged to continue the milestone developmental programmes of the Aregbesola administration, if he wins the election.
As the first aspirant to begin his campaign activities at the party secretariat, Adeoti said some people had been abusing him that he had no money to prosecute his ambition because he did not go out on time.
According to him, his patience does not mean that he fears anybody.
Adeoti said his formal declaration would surprise his critics.
The SSG hailed Aregbesola for what he called his unprecedented achievements in infrastructural development.
He added that the governor had performed well within seven and a half years in office.
Adeoti said it was necessary that whoever becomes the next governor should continue where Aregbesola will stop.
He said: “I told Ogbeni Aregbesola at a programme that he cannot finish the Six-Point integral action and I would be the governor to continue the programmes. I have noticed where there is need for implementation and I will correct it.
“Because I obeyed the party when it said we should not go out, some people are saying Adeoti cannot print vests or caps. It’s not that I fear anybody. I will go out on Tuesday and you will all see.”
Recalling how he was jailed during the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration, Adeoti said he had suffered in the party and deserved to be the next governor.
The party chairman, Gboyega Famoodun, described Adeoti as a politician who has seen all, having been the party’s chairman under Alliance for Democracy (AD).
He said he was not surprised by the crowd and support for Adeoti because “he is a strong pillar in the party”.
