A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr Ezekiel Oyemomi, has promised to match the performance of Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode, if elected to govern the state.
Oyemomi, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, said most of the technocrats who had served and are serving the state have excelled in governance in their states.
The Orile-Owu-born technocrat made the pledgee in his declaration speech for the governorship race.
He noted that “most of the technocrats who had served and are still serving at the helms of affairs in some states did well and never disappointed the people”.
Oyemomi cited Lagos, Ogun, Anambra and Gombe states, where technocrats have raised the bar in governance.
The aspirant urged the electorate in Osun State to vote for a technocrat like him and assured them that they would not regret it.
He pledged that administration would pursue a 10–Point Agenda, which is designed to better the lots of Osun residents.
According to him, these are in agriculture, youth orientation, engagement and empowerment, functional education, women empowerment, rural infrastructure development and rehabilitation, staff development and re-orientation, rehabilitation and reposition of the health sector, development of art and culture, tourism and industrialisation.
Oyemomi said: “I have dealt with various international agencies and organisations; I am prepared to use my connections with them. I am already aware of where these organisations would be useful for the development of Osun State.
“I have everything it takes to move Osun State forward because as a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, I had interacted with state government officials. I know their problems and how to solve them. I have related with members of the National Assembly in the course of discharging my official duties. I had direct opportunities to relate with the people at the state level. I know their problems and the appropriate solutions required.
“As such, my 31 years of experience in the Federal Civil Service will enable me to serve Osun in such a way that we will improve their lives and their means of livelihood.”
The aspirant urged members of the APC in Osun State “to look very well, and deeply too, for a credible person who is not out to deceive them but is willing to work at this crucial stage of the state development”.
