- Ex-Senate President say party ready for 2027
With the successful conduct of state and ward congresses in various states, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed confidence that the party has bright prospects for the 2027 general election.
In their statements and tweets on X and other social media platforms, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and former Senate President Bukola Saraki emphasised the increasing confidence in the party’s march towards the 2027 elections.
In Saraki’s tweet yesterday, which he directed at PDP’s newly elected state exco and members in Kwara State, the former Senate President stressed that the party needed to prepare for serious challenges ahead of the polls by building a robust structure.
“The strength of any enduring political movement lies not just in slogans or personalities but in the integrity of its structure.

“Today in Ilorin, at our Kwara PDP State Congress, we took an important step in reinforcing that foundation,” Saraki stated.
He urged all winners and losers in the congresses to sustain courage and commitment for the party’s cause.
Saraki also stressed the need for newly elected party leaders to work diligently towards presenting PDP as a much-desired alternative in coming elections.
“Let us be clear: the challenges before us are formidable, but not insurmountable.
“The realities in our dear state demand that we be more strategic, more compassionate, and more focused than ever. We must prove ourselves to be the human-centred alternative that our people are yearning for,” he added.
Governor Fintiri, who is also the Chairman of the 2025 PDP National Convention Organising Committee, applauded the processes for the party’s ward and state congresses.
The governor noted that the current situation indicates much hope for the party in 2027.
“Today, in Yola, we witnessed democracy at its finest as our great party, the PDP, elected a new state executive committee, led by Alhaji Hamza Bello.
“I congratulate the new team; together, we move forward – stronger, united and ready for 2027,” Fintiti tweeted.
