Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola has promised not to let the people down if re-elected in the July 16 election.
Oyetola said the people who elected him in 2018 can attest to the various development projects he had embarked on in the last three and a half years of his administration.
The governor spoke yesterday during an engagement with members of the Traders Association of Nigeria (Egbe Olowo) in Osogbo.
Oyetola, represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, said he would not relent in his development plans for the state, as well as the people’s welfare in his second term.
The governor said his administration was also revamping the economy through industrialisation and commercialisation. This, he added, was through the establishment of the Ethanol Bio-Refinery factory, International Trade Centre/Industrial Hub and Inland Port, to create jobs.
He added: “On the business uplifting fund, an initiative tagged ‘GbOWOGA’, 10,000 petty traders with disabilities were given N10,000 each. This is to boost their businesses and reduce the poverty level to the barest minimum.
“Through the Central Bank of Nigeria and state’s microcredit agency, we facilitated the disbursement of Medium Small and Micro Enterprises Development Fund (MSMEDF) to more than 2,000 beneficiaries. Our administration has also facilitated household loans, whereby more than 835 beneficiaries received between N250,000 and N1 million as support funds…”
Chairman of the association Ismaila Abdulganiyu praised Oyetola for the introduction of Gbowoga initiative. He pledged the association’s support for the governor’s re-election so he can continue his good works.
