The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Muktah Abimbola, on Thursday released 22 inmates of Abolongo Prisons, Oyo.
He also commuted jail sentences slammed on three others to three months’ community service.
A three-member special court consisting of Deputy Chief Registrars, Mrs. OA Adetujoye, Mrs. O. A. Ogunrin and Mrs. S. A. Oyerinde conducted the proceedings on behalf of the Chief Judge.
The ceremony was in honour of an advocate of prison decongestion and Member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Prince Adetayo Adekunle.
Adekunle thanked the CJ for keying in to his advocacy for prison decongestion.
He also commended the immense roles played by the prison management and charged the freed inmates to shun anything that would bring them back to prison.
