The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied adopting 26 of its House of Assembly aspirants ahead of next year’s general elections.
Some of the aspirants in the 26 constituencies, who opposed the said adoption, called for a free, fair and transparent primary.
APC’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, who allayed the fears of the aggrieved aspirants, assured them that the party would hold a primary.
In a statement yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Ajayi urged the aspirants to sell their aspirations to party members and disregard the alleged adoption.
The party’s spokesman said the House of Assembly primary had been scheduled for October 2, adding that it will hold.
He said: “I wish to reiterate that no aspirant to the House Assembly has been adopted as a consensus candidate by the party.
“All aspirants are, therefore, advised to sell themselves to our members in their various constituencies, preparatory to the primary, which will hold on October 2.”
