Patson Daka: Leicester must stick together to escape relegation

Patson Daka has called for unity with the exit of Brendan Rodgers and Leicester’s below-par performances that have relegated them to the bottom of the table.

On Sunday, it was confirmed that the Club had reached a mutual agreement with Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as manager. Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will oversee their matches until a substantial manager takes over.

The Foxes fell to a sixth defeat in seven games with Crystal Palace netting a last-minute winner at Selhurst Park, leaving them 19th in the table. Within 24 hours, Rodgers’ departure was confirmed, and it’s now a short turnaround to Leicester‘s next league outing.

Daka says all focus should be on uniting as one to preserve the Club’s Premier League status.

“What we have to do is stick together, concentrate, and work together as a team to make sure that we stay in the Premier League, which is the target right now.

“The news has just made us all emotional,” the Zambia striker told CITY, the Club’s official matchday magazine. “For me, he was the one who brought me to this Club and I feel disappointed and partly responsible as well for what has happened.

“I feel I didn’t do enough to help him keep his job. What’s done is done. We can’t change it right now.

“What we have to do is stick together, concentrate, and work together as a team to make sure that we stay in the Premier League, which is the target right now.

“I believe we can do that, and we will do that. It’s more of a fresh start. I think we just have to not dwell on what we have lost, but we have to look forward to the future.”

“They are pushing us every time and we know that they are going to come in numbers to support us. We can’t do it by ourselves, but we have to do it together. Not only as players but with the fans as well. We are stronger together.

“We’re just going to do our part and we also believe that they are going to do their part in being the 12th man.”
