… IPP wants united Ibolo land
Monarchs in Offa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara state have listed land dispute, discrimination and insincerity as factors causing disunity amongst Ibolo people of the state.
The monarchs spoke this when a group called Ibolo Peace Parley (IPP) visited their palaces for their royal blessing on the peace move it is initiating for the Ibolos in Kwara.
The communities visited by the some members of IPP include Offa, Erin-Ile, Igosun, Ipee, Irra, Ijagbo, Ilemona, Igbonna, Ojoku, Inaja among others all in Oyun and Offa local government areas.
The monarchs expressed deep appreciation for the action of the IPP members, adding that peace and development would elude any society that is rancourous.
At the Onira’s palace, Oba Abdulwahab Oyetoro hailed the move, saying that “we have had this type of initiative before but it did not last because of insincerity and truthfulness. Our forefathers were never like this. They were plain to one another.
“I am happy that all of you are of Ibolo extraction. We all one in Ibolo land yet peace and development seem elusive.”
He urged the group not to distracted by the actions, utterances and diversionary tactics of naysayers.
“Council of chiefs in the two councils have met severally on this knoty issue of disunity in Kwara Ibolo to no avail. IPP has herculian task at hand. We have been created together by God. All what we need is to tolerate each other. God cannot make mistakes in creating us together,” he added.
Other monarchs corroborated him, praying for unity and mutual trust among all communities that make up the Kwara Ibolos.
Earlier, IPP President Funsho Ladipo said that the love of Ibolo land gave birth to the association.
Ladipo, a medical practitioner, said that the association is non religious, apolitical and non discriminatory.
According to him the aims and objective of the association are for peace and economic empowerment of the communities in the two local government areas.
He added that the group decided to toured the monarchs for their words of encouragement, support and royal blessing.
