‘Perpetrators of electoral violence ’ll not go unpunished’

THOSE who perpetrated electoral violence during the last general elections will not go unpunished, President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has said.

Buhari, who spoke while receiving a delegation from River State led by former Deputy Governor, Sir Gabriel Toby, said his government owe the people the responsibility to ensure that those who trample on their rights are brought to book.

Buhari said: “We will confront them with facts and figures. We will not forgive and we will not forget those who perpetrated killings and arson  in Rivers State during the elections. At least, this is the much we owe to Nigerians”.

He, however, assured Nigerians that they will get the respect they deserve for his government, adding that “there will be no army within the army or a police within the police”.

Leader of the delegation told reporters that they were in Abuja to congratulate the President-elect and brief him on what transpired in the state during the elections.
