Police arraign man for ‘stabbing friend’

A middle-aged man, Bashiru Abubakar, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing his friend, Farouk Mohammed.

Abubakar was arraigned on a count charge of assault before Magistrate O. Sule-Amzat.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, said the incident occurred at about 4pm on April 4 in Ikeja area of Lagos.

He said Abubakar allegedly stabbed Mohammed on both legs while they were fighting.

The Police said the alleged offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 712 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Ms. Sule-Amzat granted him bail for N50,000.00 with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned until June 18 for trial.
