Police arrest ATM card swap syndicates, recover 54 cards, POS machine in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a syndicate allegedly involved in ATM card swap fraud, recovering 54 ATM cards and a POS machine in the process.

The Command’s PPRO, ASP Mansir Hassan in a statement said the suspects, Umar Yau of Zoo Road, Kano; Abdullahi Bukar of Tudun Wada, Kaduna; and Hussaini Sulaiman of Zoo Road, Kano, were arrested on August 27, 2024, around 11:00 pm, following a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence.

He stated: “The trio were notorious for loitering around ATMs, pretending to assist individuals unfamiliar with operating the machines. They would then deceitfully swap the victims’ ATM cards, allowing them to carry out unauthorized withdrawals from their accounts.”
