Police arrest four for Col Yunusa’s murder

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of an Army officer, Col. Samaila Yunusa.

Col Yunusa was kidnapped on March 27 in Kaduna.

A statement by the force spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, said the suspects specialises in snatching vehicles and selling same to unsuspecting people.

It added that their arrest was made possible following discreet, sustained and painstaking intelligence of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Kaduna State Command Special Investigation Branch (SIB) operatives.

The statement reads: “Sequel to the kidnapping and killing of the officer, the IGP IRT deployed the technical and human intelligence assets of the Force and a prison warder, Abdullahi Adamu, was arrested.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of the prime suspects: Ibrahim Kabiru, m, 23, (aka uztaz) and Ebele Precious, m, 41 (aka pastor), gang leader Emeka Okeke Cyprain, m, 44 and Chijioke Ugwuanyi, m, 42 (aka CJ).

“Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle, two magnum pistols, one Nissan Pathfinder Jeep and documents of six houses in Anambra State, which Emeka Okeke Cyprian confessed were proceeds of his previous criminal activities.”

She said the culprits would soon be arraigned and that the police would intensify efforts to arrest fleeing members.
