Police arrest ‘Red Barger’cult members, kidnappers in Abia

The Abia State Police Command said it has arrested members of a cult group identified as “Red Barger” Confraternity, who operated around Lokpanta in Isuochi area of the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, AdeleyeOyebade, disclosed to our reporter that the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the force at Isuochi Division was alerted about the corpse of one Prince, worker at a bakery near the Cattle Market within the area who was said to have been stabbed to death by his fellow cult members for a yet-to-be identified issue.

Oyebade stated that after the corpse of the victim was deposited in a nearby morgue and commencement of investigation into his killing, AbdulazeezMukaila, Samuel Chukwuemeka and ObisikeEkezie of the same cult group were arrested. He stated that the trio on interrogation confessed to the killing of Prince.

In another development, the Police Commissioner disclosed that the Dragon Squad with its operational base in Aba, the commercial hub of the state, acting on a tip off reportedly arrested two kidnap suspects; Samuel Akoma and Kenneth Ananaba in an undisclosed hotel within the commercial city.

The hoodlums were said to have gone to the hotel to lodge after they collected ransom of a victim that has been in their captivity.

He stated that two vehicles belonging to the victim and a yet-to-be identified person were recovered from the kidnappers after police swooped on them.
