Police arrest six in infant, women’s kidnap

The police in Lagos have arrested six suspects over the kidnap of a six-month-old baby and three women at the Epe area of the state.

Spokesperson for the command, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP) confirmed the arrest, adding that efforts were on to ensure the safe return of the victims.

She declined comment on whether contacts have been established with families of the victims, whose names were given as Oluwatoyosi Aboderin, Ogechi Maku and Togo, all farmers.

It was gathered that the possible hideout of the kidnappers have been identified and security agents were on their trail.

Badmos said: “Investigation into the matter is ongoing. Six suspects are in our custody and detectives are currently combing the area. The CP Fatai Owoseni has directed residents be sensitised on the new tactics deployed by criminal elements especially in this ember months. He has warned that no Lagos residents to never stop their vehicles when flanked by men on mufti claiming to be police officers.

“People need to know that neither the police nor any other security agency operates in mufti. He has also advised that market women should be vigilant and don’t allow people to leave their baggage unattended. They should force anyone who drops anything to carry it along.

“Avoid entering vehicles on the road. Patronise recognised garages and those who use ATM should go to areas that are lit and busy. He has also appealed to people to be conscious of how their valuables are kept at home. Do not unnecessary expose them to domestic helps.”
