Police arrest step-mother for assaulting teenager

A woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her 11-year-old step- son, Ebube Okafor and chasing him out of their residence.

It was gathered that the woman used pestle, knife and wooden spoon to inflict injuries on the kid while his father was out of Lagos.

After beating the boy, the woman allegedly sent him out of the house for several days before a good Samaritan found him wandering.

The Nation gathered that the boy was found on Saturday looking hungry and sick, four days after his unnamed step- mother chased him out of home and taken to Ejigbo police station.

Our correspondent learnt that the boy provided his father’s telephone number to his benefactor, who in turn contacted the man, only to discover that he has been away for few days.

According to a source, the victim had violent marks all over his body, as well as a knee injury, inflicted on him by the stepmother, who was said to be his late mother’s friend.

She reportedly moved into Ebube’s father’s home in 2006, when the man’s wife died while giving birth to the victim’s sister, Nmesoma.

Family sources claimed the woman has since made live unbearable for the children, threatening to kill them should no one take them away from their father’s house.
