The Katsina State Police Command announced on Sunday, September 29, that they successfully thwarted two kidnapping attempts and rescued six victims along the Jibia-Kauran Namoda road in Katsina State.
In a press release shared with journalists, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Katsina Command, stated that the rescue operation was initiated after a distress call was received by the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters about the attempted abductions.
He said: “Upon receipt of the report, police operatives, in collaboration with the military, immediately responded to the scene and engaged the suspects in a gun duel’’.
‘’4 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, one victim succumbed to gunshot injuries sustained during the attack’’.
‘’Similarly, at about 0700hrs, Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call regarding an attempted kidnapping on the Funua-Gusau road at Unguwar Boka village, Faskari LGA, Katsina State’’.
‘’Promptly responding to the scene, police operatives attached to Faskari, in collaboration with the military, engaged the assailants in a gun duel’’.
‘’Regrettably, the assailants fatally shot one of the victims during the attack. However, 2 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt.
Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators as the investigation proceeds.”
