Ogun State Police Command yesterday paraded a suspected cultist, Kayode Oreneye, who allegedly killed a man, simply identified as Shakiru.
He was alleged to have cut his hands and sold it to a herbalist for N5,000.
Oreneye, 27, a suspected member of Aiye confraternity, reportedly shot dead Shakiru in Ilaro in February during a reprisal.
The Nation learnt the victim was a member of a rival cult.
The suspect was paraded with 47 others, who were arrested at locations for offences ranging from robbery to murder, stealing and ritual acts, among others.
Police Commissioner Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded Oreneye at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, said he was nabbed at a drinking joint in Abeokuta.
The suspect told reporters that Shakiru belonged to a rival cult, Eiye.
Oreneye, a father of two, claimed the deceased attempted to kill him on three occasions, but he survived.
He said the deceased killed three members of Aiye cult.
“It is true that I shot dead Shakiru, because he had killed three members of our cult (Aiye).
“He attempted to kill me on three occasions, but I escaped. I had to strike before he would strike,” the suspect said.
