Two persons were killed in Ebonyi on Monday night as police and gunmen exchanged gunfire in Abakaliki.
The attacked took place at a police checkpoint near Presco Junction on Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway.
The incident, which occurred at about 8pm created panic as commuters scampered for safety while the shootout lasted.

A source said that the gunmen operated on a motorcycle.
Police spokesman Chris Anyanwu confirmed the incident, saying one policeman and one of the gunmen were shot dead.
