Ahead the United Nations organised World Urban Forum in Poland, the Polish Ambassador Joanna Magdalena Tarnawska has hosted President of the Ugwumba Leadership Development Centre in Africa, Uche Nwosu.
Nwosu was appointed UN Habitat Special Youth Envoy and scheduled to speak at the global event hold in Poland in June.
According to Nwosu the visit was to familiarise with the Polish Ambassador and fine tune preparations for the event.
Nwosu gave reasons for the establishment of the centre and how it has become important for young people in black nations around the world to submit to the mentorship of successful people who are contributing to both national and global development with their knowledge and innovations.
According to him: “Today in Abuja, I paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency, Joanna Magdalena Tarnawska, the Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria to familiarize with her in preparation for my visit to Poland for the 11th edition of the World Urban Forum organized by the United Nations.
“You may recall that a few weeks ago, I was appointed the UN Habitat Special Youth Envoy and have been scheduled to speak at the global event scheduled to hold in Poland, next month.
“I was marveled by her deep understanding of the culture of Nigeria and those of other African countries. We further discussed future collaboration opportunities with her office”.
The Ambassador, commended the Center for the giant strides it is making in raising new leaders and creating jobs for youths in Africa.
She described the leadership and enterprise development programs of the center as “timely”, “as they are aimed at changing the narratives about youth development in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole”.
The Executive Director, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere gave an overview about the Center’s programs and its overall mandate, which is to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa.
He informed that leadership and entrepreneurship development are the focal areas of the programs of the center since they are very important skills required for the development of any nation.
Coordinator of the UN Habitat Youth Program for Nigeria, Mr. Uzoh Ifeanyi, said Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was considered for appointment as the UN Habitat Special Youth Envoy based on his philanthropic gestures, “which are evident in the various achievements of the Ugwumba Leadership Center.
On the delegation were Director General of the Centre, Remy Chukwunyere; UN Habitat Youth Program Coordinator for Nigeria, Uzoh Ifeanyi, Mrs. Agwu-Nnachi Ugo and Josephat Okafor, Personal Assistant to the President, among others.
