Prioritising training vital for effective governance, says Edo governor

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has emphasised that prioritizing the training and retraining of public servants is key to achieving better, efficient, and transparent service delivery in governance.

He made this assertion during the inauguration of three new permanent secretaries at the Government House in Benin.

Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing a team of civil servants dedicated to effectiveness and transparency in their official duties.

He said: “Edo people voted for us to provide good governance. Public service delivery wiill be central to that agenda.

“Gone are the days when anything goes in public service. My administration will not tolerate indolence and lackadaisical approach to work. To this end, we are building a team of regular civil servants that will be effective and transparent in their call to duty.

“We will ensure that public servants in Edo State are constantly trained and repositioned to achieve our dream of a better Edo.”

Edo governor also admonished the new permanent secretaries to put in their best in making a huge difference in the coming year.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated permanent secretaries, Mrs. Stella Eshieshie, thanked Okpebholo  for the confidence reposed in them and the opportunity given to them to serve in the capacity of permanent secretaries.

Eshieshie promised that the top civil servants would bring their experience and expertise to bear, in implementing the administration’s policies, thereby moving Edo forward.
