- Commission okays promotion of 24 CPs, 33 DCPs, 449 ASPs, others
The Police Service Commission (PSC) yesterday approved the appointment of Assistance Inspector General of Police (AIG) Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police.
Egbetokun will represent the Southwest in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
He replaces DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo who retired on March 15.
The commission also approved the promotion of 24 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 33 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The appointments and promotions were among the highlights of the 19th plenary meeting of the PSC held yesterday in Abuja and presided over by its Acting Chairman, Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi JSC (retd.), CFR.
The PSC also approved the promotion of 37 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 118 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs), 316 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to Chief Superintendents (CSPs), eight Assistant Superintendents (ASPs) to Deputy Superintendents (DSPs) and 61 Inspectors of Police to Assistant Superintendents II (ASP II).
A statement by the commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said the PSC also considered and approved the confirmation and promotion of 4,449 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASPs II) to Assistant Superintendents of Police I (ASP I).
The PSC also approved the promotion of 300 other senior police officers of different ranks.
Justice Ogunbiyi urged the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation.
She said the commission would continue to ensure that police promotions are regular and motivate officers.
