Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, has called for sober reflection and prayers, especially during Ramadan, for unity, peace and harmony to reign in Nigeria.
Elegushi, who spoke at the Annual Ramadan Lecture, Special Thanksgiving and Prayers, organised by ‘Project Beyond Lagos State Chapter’, thanked God for victory recorded in the general elections. He also prayed for the success of the Bola Tinubu-led presidency.
The commissioner also urged Nigerians to live in peace, harmony and improve on unity, enjoining them to forget about the past while contributing their quota towards the development of the country.
He expressed confidence that the Tinubu presidency would bring renewed hope and tremendous development for Nigeria, even as he called on the youths and Nigerians to be constructive, shun violence and criminality.
A renowned scholar, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, in his sermon, said there is need for Nigerians to thank God for answered prayers as ‘it was God’s wish for Tinubu to be elected president.
He urged Nigerians to shun evil practices, backbiting and support Tinubu’s administration, praying that good advisers would work with him to run a transparent government, and that God would grant him wisdom, long life and sound health.
A lecturer at the University of Ilorin and also Chief Imam of Amineen Foundation, Abdulmumin Ashiribo, said Tinubu’s victory had given Nigerians a renewed hope after 1993, adding that the February 25 election was free, fair, credible, reliable and dependable.
He appealed to both winners and losers to embrace peace and see the process as the will of God.
