The people of Ibeju in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government of Lagos State have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to approve recommendation made to him regarding the choice of the next Onibeju.
According to the people, the delay in appointing the next ruler resulted in a situation where some were claiming to be oba-elect.

They spoke to reporters through Aro of Ibeju, who is head of the kingmakers, Chief Moshood Adewale Musefui.
Musefui said there were three ruling houses; Abejoye, Oniwonlu and Aladeseso which rule in succession … it is the turn of Oniwonlu Ruling House … They came with 19 names and the kingmakers met and forwarded a name to the local government chairman for transmission to the governor for approval…’’
