Reactions as El-Rufai’s son tags ASUU ‘useless’

Reactions have emerged over the comment of Bashir, son of Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai on the ongoing Academic Staff Union Universities (ASUU) strike

Indications emerged the National Executive Council (NEC) may have opted for extension of the strike after majority of the union branches voted for continuation of the industrial action.

Reacting, Bashir tweeted: “ASUU is a very useless Union. They should be scrapped & replaced with educators that actually give a damn about students and how that translates to the future of this country”

Bashir’s tweet triggered different reactions from tweeps over his stance.

@dabang234 tweeted: Point of correction: ASUU is not a very useless Union. They simple refused to endorse the elites desire to prevent the poor from having access to university education in order to remain subservient to them. Take it or leave it.

@Timtexbeylo said: “ I agree with you! The asuu president and co fighting for personal interest not for good educational structure! Can universities be revitalised when schools is closed?

@ayo2-rasaq wrote: “Bashir must be terribly pained ASUU is bent on near standard Varsity education to break the monopoly of studied-abroad that his type crave. If his father and other elites really care about the poor masses why are his children and Bashir not ex-ABU like the father?”

@ibrahimdidamson said: “I have a feeling this boy was not educated in the country else, he would have known better…”

@atabo-samuel wrote: Of course, he acts like someone who insults his father. It only takes someone who insults his father to insult the fathers of others

ASUU has been rolling over strike since February 14 over the failure of Federal Government to meet their demands.
